Lego MOC: Cars

Toyota AE86s (Initial D)

Latest update: 13.Jul.2026

This page contains designs based on real cars, including concepts and versions seen in fiction. My vehicle bases are typically 8-wide, although their overall width may exceed that due to panelling. The order is chronological so my latest design is at the bottom.

Initial D Toyota AE86
After having researched quite a few 8-wide car designs out there by various designers (too many to be named) and after some experimentation, below is my first attempt design of Fujiwara Takumi’s AE86 as seen in the anime series Initial D.

The design is admittedly not the most faithful in its appearance. For example, the rear should be longer relative to the wheelbase. Nevertheless, I have attempted to include as much detail and functionality as possible. The doors, hood and hatch should be able to open. The pop-up headlights have limited movement. The front seats are adjustable and the rear seats can fold down for extra storage space. The rear can only seat one minifigure. The interior includes the dashboard, steering wheel, handbrake, cup and, of course, the container of tofu in the boot.

Porsche Vision 920
The form is difficult to replicate but I am mostly happy with it. The two grilled tiles at the rear do not fit and the car would probably look better without them. Studio did not flag the collision and I leave them here as a matter of history.

Honda NSX (1991)
The design is admittedly not the most faithful in its appearance given that I try to include as much detail and functionality as possible. The general form and wheelbase given the overall dimensions are not too bad. The doors, hood (front) and engine cover (mid-rear) should be able to open. The pop-up headlights have limited movement. The boot is mounted on a hinge but its movement is also limited. Also, the rear lights open with the boot which is not the case for the real car.

The front cannot fit a spare tire but the engine compartment and boot have plenty of room. The interior includes the steering wheel, handbrake and gear stick but no dashboard.

Suzuki Carry
The classic kei truck Suzuki Carry (DA16T). Given the scale, it is difficult to replicate faithfully. The camper van is based on the DIY camper by @tabisuru.ie. I am not associated with Tabi-ie, I just generally find camper designs fascinating.

Toyota Corolla Concept (2025)
Below is my attempt of the Toyota Corolla Concept revealed at the Japan Mobility Show in October 2025. Due to its form and the lack of room at this scale, it is a 2-door rather than 4-door.

Lamborghini Egoista
It is practically impossible to replicate all the angles and curves. To do so for one section prevents another given the lack of space of the 8-wide chassis. But still, the slopes and wedges released in recent years help. The wheel covers are not available in orange, I have simply selected the color for the render.

Toyota Celica GT (1970)
The classic first-generation Toyota Celica GT. Given the scale, I omitted the mirrors.
